Land Rover Logo

The Land Rover Freelander is a compact SUV from the subsidiary of Tata Motors, the British Land Rover. The company is now producing the second generation model named the Freelander 2 or LR2. The latest edition of the Freelander is hitting the Middle East and North American markets.

The Rover Group conceptualized the original design of the Freelander in late 1980s after doing market researches that suggested the creation of compact off-roaders. The Rover Group was about to develop the Freelander project in early 1990s when they had a limited budget for its product development. To battle it out the Rover looked for a partner for the development of the Freelander. Their formal partner, the Honda has declined to join the project but came out with the similar Honda CR-V in 1997. With their failure to find a partner the Rover Group decided to go alone with the development of the Freelander that they named CB40 with their limited available resources. They come up with a unique suspension, transmission, and body construction. The Freelander was launched in 1997 after several years of development from their limited parts bin. In 1994, the BMW took over the operation of the Rover Group but not with the development of the Freelander.

The cost cutting done in the old Freelanders was retorted when the early Freelanders were found to be suffering from several inconsistencies such as clutch failure, head gaskets problem, and electrical problems. The new Freelander has seen a change in design and improvements in the problem areas of the past and this has accounted for the vehicle remaining on top when it comes to sale value. The Freelander was the best-selling 4x4 in Europe.

One notable feature of the Freelander was the hill descent control system that was first used in this model of the Land Rover. This system uses the abs to give an off road Traction Control system and to individually control the brakes while maintaining better driving control in off road terrains. The Freelander was out of the production line after its poor sales in 2006 in U.S. and Canada.

Lamborghini Logo

Lamborghini was founded in 1963 by Ferrucio Lamborghini, a former army member who established their own company committed to building tractors. The tractor business developed as years passed as well as in 1970 another factory was founded to produce air conditioning units and heaters for buildings. The incredible success was celebrated in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy where the company established its headquarters.

But everything changed when he met Enzo Ferrari. It was the moment when his desire to build high-speed supercars with luxurious interiors revealed itself. Ferrucio complained to Enzo about a clutch problem that the Ferrari he owned had. Enzo told him that "the problem is not with the car but with the driver..." and that he was asked to take care of his tractors and leave the issue for those who get sound advice.

Disappointed through the answer received, Ferrucio dismounted the transmission of his car and found out that his car used exactly the same transmission as his tractors. Because of this discovery, he asked some talented men who worked for Enzo Ferrari including Franco Scaglione, Giotto Bizzarini and Gian Paolo Dallara to provide him help. As a result, the team created the perfect competitor for that Ferrari cars, the Automobili Lamborghini.

Ferrucio was inspired by its birth sign, Taurus, and started using it as an emblem for his cars. In fact, even nowadays the Lamborghini cars are named after bulls. The Italian company also recruited Giotto Bizzarrini, a worker who used to work for Ferrari and asked him to create and manufacture a V12 engine for Lamborghini. This engine was soon built and was able to produce 400 horsepower. But because Ferrucio wanted a GT car and never a racing car, the ability was reduced to 280 horsepower.

The very first car manufactured by Lamborghini was the GTV prototype as the first production car was the Lamborghini 350GT manufactured in 1964. After the Lamborghini 350GT, the history of Lamborghini continued using the manufacture and release of the Miura, a genuine supercar named after a well-known bull race. However the success didn't stop here. In 1968 Lamborghini manufactured the Lamborghini Espada 400GT which was a large hit, a lot more than 1,200 cars being built at Sant'Agata.

In 1970, the race driver Bob Wallace worked to rework his Miura S right into a race car. He redesigned the suspension, reduced the weight and placed new spoilers receiving a fast race car that could range from zero to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds. But Ferrucio wasn't thinking about the race proposal of Wallace and chose to sell the prototype from the Lamborghini Miura Jota to an Italian enthusiast. In the 1970s, an italian man, company suffered due to the economic crunch and Ferrucio sold his shares to some Swiss car lover, George-Henri Rosseti. But the company continued without its founder. After some dark days and only one car produced (the Coutach 400S in 1980), Lamborghini was sold towards the French brothers Patrick and Jean-Claude Mimran who produced the off-road LMA series and the Coutach Quattrovalvole. Later, another page from the Lamborghini history was written when Lee Iaccoca bought the organization for $33 millions.

Kia Logo

Being the 2nd largest car company in South Korea, Kia Motors is known as one of the fastest rising names in the auto industry. Founded in 1944, Kia Motors started out as company responsible for producing steel tubing and bicycles. It would eventually evolve into manufacturing motorcycles, passenger cars and trucks for public use. Partnering with Ford in 1986 gave the Korean car company the chance to produce several vehicles drawn from Mazda which they released both domestically and internationally.

In 1992, Kia Motors started an American branch and sold their models through various dealerships. Like any other Asian company in the late 90s, Kia Motors was affected by the financial crisis which led to the company announcing their bankruptcy. This marked the acquisition of Kia by its rival in South Korea, Hyundai Motors. Under this condition, Kia Motors bounced back from the financial crisis and progressed in the new decade. Kia Motors is now eyeing the European market to expand its operations and sales.

These cars rely on many factors to retain its build and quality. The amount of attention and care a motorist invests is one factor. Another is the use of Kia parts to keep the vehicle running smoothly. Whether it’s the car owner determines if needs replacement parts or performance parts, the use of Kia parts to improve the driving conditions of a Kia vehicle comes into mind. Kia parts offer the car owner a definite solution when it comes to improving the efficiency and performance of the Kia vehicle in its day to day operations.
